Hornitos Insta Cantina

Cinco de Mayo is the official launch of Tequila Season, however in 2020 it was falling less than two months into the pandemic lockdown. Our ask was to develop a program that enables our audience to celebrate Cinco with Hornitos in a meaningful way while at home. Since bars were closed, we did the next best thing: we opened a virtual cantina in Instagram Stories. It opened on Tuesday, May 5th, 2020 at 5pm EST and featured all of the sights, sounds and experiences you’d find at a real bar. By using native IG Story functionality, fans could tap through the Cantina order a drink with our bartender via our partnership with Drizly, listen to our house band Flor De Toloache (the Latin Grammy award-winning mariachi band), play bar trivia and more. It was as close to a real bar experience that you could get this year for Cinco de Mayo, and a much needed traditional celebration during a difficult season stuck at home.

The Hornitos Cantina came to life across 78 frames in Instagram Stories. And like any night at the bar, after 24 hours you were left with merely the memories of your experience and maybe a few excerpts in your Highlights section.
