Kitten Election

Michelson Found Animals’ local Adopt & Shop is always looking for forever homes for their furry friends. While we had success with Facebook Lives in the past, we decided the put our adoptable kittens to the test for the 2016 Election.

The idea: stream our adoptable kittens live on election night! We set up two litter boxes: one with a picture of Trump and one with a picture of Hillary and we sat back and waited for the kittens to “drop” their votes.

Results: The 2016 Election night was unforgettable - Americans across the country were huddled in front of TVs triple-screening with their laptops and smartphones. While the night was stressful, we found people not only tuning into our kitten election livestream, but returning to see how the kittens were doing. People found comfort and escapism in the entertainment (and cuteness) of it all. They participated in the comments, putting their own spin on who the kittens were voting for based on their behavior. In about 3 hours, we earned:

  • Over 6 Million Views

  • Over 16.5 Million in Reach

  • 454k+ Engagements (likes, comments, shares)

  • 6,000 new Facebook followers

    …. all on $0 budget.
